Indeed. But any system has ways to make it work well, and also ways to corrupt it. Like anything else, it depends on the integrity of the people in the system. The saxophone I was given was an archaic, but not collectible, model with now-non-standard pads and keys, and was deemed, rightfully so, more expensive to repair than replace. It made a great project in an instrument repair class at a local university, and was sent on down the line. The souzy, well, it is on loan.

BTW: the concept of "common law wife" came about as a way to help children born of these non-solemnized unions to secure their inheritance. It had nothing to do with "legitmizing" any relationship, in an age when the word "bastard" was still a technical term disqualifying inheritance.

The correct term for the above-described situation is "adverse possession," meaning it may not be mine, but I've had open possession of it (and a few other conditions) for so long that the time has passed for anybody else to claim a better right to it than me.

at the risk of speaking for Wes, I'm pretty sure you misunderstood. He was saying he (and most students) haven't owned 4 or 5 horns when still in high school. I'll wager he's referring to your 186, Kalison DS, 25J, 52J, and a couple of other "fixer uppers." It's unusual for a student your age to have already owned so many instruments, no matter how good you are. It's pretty...odd...to say the least.

Well ... ya learn somethin' new every day! Guess that means I am done early today !! Seriously, that's interesting information. Thanks for the reply. I was merely looking for an analogy that would get my idea across.

wow....ok. I'll fix that. I thought he meant player. No, my technique is 1.trade. The only time i ever owned more than one horn was the 25j and 52j which was only because i couldn't find a horn to trade the 25j for that was what i was looking for (which the 25j is back up for sale). 2. a very loving and loved grand mother (don't you know? that's always the ticket lol) (well and there's the olds. It was just random luck though.) now in the case of the 20j (and other various horns) I usually wind up with all of the odds and ends from the school. I got to keep the the 20j at my house because i was fixing it and no one ever played it. I also have a bass bone that the bell had been bent completely back. If it's something that is not played and can be fixed by me (usually body work) they usually let me borrow it until it is needed again.
