Dear Olympic Bass Trombonist...
If you stumble upon this from the interwebs...
Good God! Fabulous job on the Star Spangled Banner. You tear some wood off the walls with that one.
Not only that, but this arrangment is SO much better than the Beijing Olympics arrangement.

That was a good rendition! We got it a couple hours later here on the left coast. Just heard Oh, Canada--MUCH better job than the gal who sang for the opening ceremony, IMO.
Gotta say, that with these games in MY time zone, I am dismayed that I can't get more stuff in real time. Just sayin'.

You do realize it's also on msnbc, cnbc, usa if you have cable/sat and universalsports.com if you have decent net. Start at http://www.nbcolympics.com" target="_blank to find the schedule.

Re: Dear Olympic Bass Trombonist...
Here's part of an email Gordon Cherry sent to me -
When you listen to the Olympic national anthems, that was recorded in the fall of 2008... 24 hours in 3 days.... ouch!!
Most of the rest was done in November and December and January in Vancouver, but I was only in the John Williams Fanfare and March.
Yep, it's Gordon Cherry!

Well that explains that. Gordon is an outstanding player, definitely gets a chance to shine during this anthem.

I had no idea he doubled on Bass. He is playing tenor on everything I have of him.

Ah, nevermind. I think I get what Brian is trying to say. He is trying to say it is Vancouver, because Gordon is playing in it; not that Gordon is playing bass in it.
Gordon is on absence currently but wasn't in 2008. That would make the bass trombonist Douglas Sparkes?
