Jim Self in St Louis

Thanks the St Louis Low Brass Collective bunch http://www.stllbc.orgfor bringing Jim to town. A masterclass, not of the typical "student plays, teacher comments" variety, but a chance to hear Jim talk about his career, his musical ideas behind his playing and composition, and generally about stuff. Some improvising on patterns, some reading his charts (gotta check out his Finlandia...5 part tubas, and it rollicks) and a good time had by all. Jim is a truly class guy, and all the StLLBC gang is right there with him. Tim, Jerry, BJ, Mike whoever else is involved on the board...you guys are great.
