Though narrower (referring to the outside diameter) than a typical Conn 120 rim, it is still considerably wider than the #2 rim. With the newly-introduced flatter rim lacking an asymmetrical "roll-away" (as is featured with the popular #2 rim), the player will likely be more "aware" of this flatter "Helleberg Modified" rim.
The exterior design (on the outside edge) seen here on the new "Helleberg Modified" flat rim is prototypical, 100% compatible with existing underparts, and may-or-may-not be incorporated into the design of all future rims of all styles. (This prototype exterior style is 12% lighter weight the the current design.)
These are the Sellmansberger rims that are currently available (with others currently being developed)
#1 - Semi flat (a classic American design)
#2 - Medium Narrow (with an asymmetrical "roll-away" on the outside edge - so far, the most-often ordered)
"Helleberg Modified" - flatter than either the #1 or the #2, slightly wider (not "wide") than #1 or #2, no "roll-away".
All rims are available in stainless steel or lexan.
fwiw, I am using a #2 rim 100% of the time on both the "Solo" and "Symphony" models.
