Monzil Brass in Los Angeles

This funeral is very well made. The first (and last) tune is a soldiers song for a lost comrade (Ich hat’ ein Kameraden) widely used at non-military funerals as well. The gait, most notably seen with their 1st trumpeter to the right, is the one used at old style Bavarian funerals.

However I do not know the tune played, when the marching starts, and I would be glad if somebody would be able to tell me the title.

the tune played when the funeral march starts is Ennio Morricone's theme from "Once Upon a Time in the West," the Sergio Leone western starring Peter Fonda and Charles Bronson.

I never had found out about that one myself. But then there is a good explanation why I didn’t know that tune from the folksy German repertory.

Klaus, I'm guessing that tubacdk has confused part of the first video with the music you seek in the "begrabnis" video.
They do, after all, bury two different people in these two different shows.
Ironically, I felt uplifted after watching it!

I gotta say, I just don't see the appeal.

These guys are unquestionalbly talented musicians, don't get me wrong, but I really don't get all the choreography/showmanship. I find it cutesy, cheesey and ham-fisted.

I guess what they're trying to do is to broaden the appeal of a brass concert--give folks something to talk about. They're just not particularly skilled at the dance/acting that's required to pull this sort of thing off in a truly amazing way. They indicate rather than embody (for any acting students out there). I find the choreography/direction to be juvenile as well.

Maybe it's better in person.

The Canadian Brass did/does a fair amount of this stuff, too: tuxes with tennis shoes, weaving about the stage. I don't get theirs either.
