Thanks for the tuba compliment, Bob -- I'm a proud owner of a 5v Mirafone 191. According to the factory, its serial number indicates it was made in 2001...

This was the River City Brass Band's "Ton of Tuba" from the 1988 Australia Tour. Left to Right: Jim "Squirrel" Stillwagon Sr, Kurt C. Zeigler, David McCollum, and Grant Moore. 1 BBb 186-4u (Squirrel), the rest CC 186-5us. The best section I ever played with. Miss you guys!

Re: POST YOUR LOW BRASS SECTION PHOTO HERE
Cool! If it's a Getzen dependent bass, it's almost assuredly a 1062. For the alto, my guess is still a Conn 36H, as I don't think King ever made an alto and OR or gave it the name of one of their most popular trombones.contravic wrote:King 2B Alto, Greenhoe Bach 42, Getzen (I dont know the model. How did you like the Rudy?

Re: POST YOUR LOW BRASS SECTION PHOTO HERE
My mistake Bob. Yes, the alto is a 36H. His straight jazz horn is a 2B, oops. The Rudy is great! Blends beautifully with the bones to create a wonderful sound. We had just finished the Verdi Requiem, fun piece!Bob Kolada wrote:Cool! If it's a Getzen dependent bass, it's almost assuredly a 1062. Very nice pic--------that must be an awesome section.
There are two people in the photo that do not have a striped thing hanging over their right shoulder. What's with that?

I think those are just the tuba straps - you can see the hooks on the ends of some of them (and one is totally different looking.)Ace wrote:Very nice pic--------that must be an awesome section.
