Notation Russian Easter Overture

Post by bill »

I have encountered a new notation in an edition of the Russian Easter Overture (Rimsky). I have copied it and made a .jpg which I will attempt to display here. Can anyone tell me what it means? You can also look it up at http://imslp.org/wiki/Russian_Easter_Ov ... ,_Nikolai), select the Trombone Tuba parts and look at page 15 of the .pdf, last two lines of the Tuba part. My wildest guess is that it is tied Breves.

Thanks for your help.

Always trust your wildest guesses. Those are indeed breves or twice as long as whole notes. Well done!

Thanks for your input. Glad I got something to work with. If an infinite number of questions were asked of an infinite number of Tubists, truth would certainly emerge.

Tied breves close together such as this are often known as a bra. :P
Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?
