Well, a few bites but nothing final yet so....... I have an older model Miraphone 1290 prototype. This horn has a larger bell and different wrap than the new model. It is a medium 5/4 with four piston, one rotary. Overall good shape. I'm looking to sell this one quick. Therefore, I'll entertain offers at this time. I also have a included gig bag and seperate hard case which I could also sell. $3,800. Buyer pays shipping method of their choice. What do you consider a serious offer? I'm not sure I know what prototype horns go for.

Sorry about the vagueness of my request. The brand new price for these instruments when they went off the market 6 months ago was $5,795. However, this horn is NOT in new condition and some wear and tear. I was originally hoping to get $4,000 but am entertaining offers at this time.

If the price is too high,please feel free to make an offer as stated in posts above. I feel the price is not too high considering the quality of the instrument and how close it plays to the newer model(if it wasn't even close, I would have bought the new model a month ago). I believe it hasn't sold because no one who is in the market has made an offer or play-tested the instrument to see how it plays. Some simply write it off because they would rather order an instrument from a company having NEVER played it because it was endorsed by another player on tubenet rather than try a horn out for themselves.

Well, one of the world's leading musicians (Jacob Neilan) DID officially endorsed this tuba in Feburary of 2002 - here is the proof. It is a 5/4 European style tuba with an American style 20" bell flare on it, so it is bigger than the pics may lead one to believe.

Big and Dark. The wide "American" flare helps get rid of some of the directionalness of the tall column "German" bell.

I'm familar with this horn, and for the amount of money James is willing to sell it.....somebody is going to walk home with a great bargain. If you like the new Miraphone piston model that's on the market, but don't quite have the cash for a new one, this instrument would be perfect for you.
