Good cheap mouthpiece...

Post by catkins522 »

I was looking for a newer mouthpiece and I found this one...

No name brand or markings... Is this a good buy or one to avoid it?

I bought one of those (in the "silver color") a couple of years ago. I don't know what it's covered in, but it's definitely not silver-plated and turns a cloudly black color in just a few weeks. It was nice to play on, though, and I used that mouthpiece for quite a while. It was okay, but I don't think it was worth $25, especially when considering the other options in the ≤$50 price range.

"Gold Color" may mean lacquered brass. "Silver Colored" almost always means nickel plated.

When I was teaching, a student of mine bought one. It was a nice mouthpiece and he never had a problem with it.
