Hi guys,
Has anyone tried any of the Tilz F tuba mouthpieces? By this I mean the mps's that Tilz describes as F tuba ones;

The M9 and M2 are actually listed on the Tilz page as "B-Tuba" mouthpieces. I know that doesn't mean that they don't work very well in smaller tubas - I used a M9 in my F tuba for a long time. Given how well the M9 works for me I'm interested to learn how the mouthpieces they actually make for F tuba work.

I'm playing the Walter Hilgers model WH-B2 on BBb with great satisfaction, so I expect more or less the same from the WH mouthpieces for F-tuba.

F9 is identical to Perantucci PT-64 in size and even closer to the old PT-9.

I thought it was the M9 that was the same as a PT9, which later changed it's name to the PT64?
I could be wrong, it's happened before!!

I remember Rudolf Meinl had a _9 model it was very close to PT-64 as well. Maybe it was M9. Lee Stofer would know whether it's M9 or _9.

This is incorrect. The M 9 begat the PT-9 which begat the PT-64.Chen wrote:F9 is identical to Perantucci PT-64 in size and even closer to the old PT-9.
Rudolf Meinl's version of the M9 is the RM9.Chen wrote:I remember Rudolf Meinl had a _9 model it was very close to PT-64 as well. Maybe it was M9. Lee Stofer would know whether it's M9 or _9.
Based on the link that Cam posted, all of the B. Tilz NEA 310 F models appear to be quite small. The inner diameters are as small as 29 mm and some have throats as small as 6.2 mm. The specifications actually sound more like contrabass trombone cup widths with tenor trombone sized throats. I also wonder how they play.
Many people consider the 7.5 mm throat of a Miraphone C4/TU23 to be much too small, but 7.5mm is larger than any of the B. Tilz NEA 310 F models.

I think you were referring to B. Tilz NEA 309 (being small).cjk wrote:This is incorrect. The M 9 begat the PT-9 which begat the PT-64.Chen wrote:F9 is identical to Perantucci PT-64 in size and even closer to the old PT-9.
