Besson 995
I am why some players are using the Besson 995 tuba and how it compares to the Miraphone 186 5V which is what i'm currently using.

Re: Besson 995
I am not sure how the 995 compares to the Miraphone, but I can truthfully say that I love my 995 to death.
I have found out recently that for the size of the horn that it is, it is extremely capable of adding depth to the largest of orchestras. It is very easy to project with, and I would say that the intonation might be one of the best features of this model (at least it is with my axe) FWIW, Chris Hall uses his in the Metropolitan Opera and he sounds terrific!
If you can locate one near you to try next to your Miraphone that would your best bet.
Hope this helps a bit.
