Hey all,
Next week I am going to be going to a school and teaching about 3 underclassmen high school students that are switching over to tuba. I believe one is coming from flute, one from trumpet and I'm not sure on the other one. I have taught lessons for over a year, but all of my students have been in high school so I can put music in front of them and they will learn it. I have never taught someone that is brand new to the instrument and was just wondering if anyone had advice on how to teach them.
Thanks =)

What's the goal?
Once you figure out the answer to that question, the strategy should be more clear.

I'm only going to be teaching them for like...5 days, so I think the main goal is just to get them acquainted with the tuba and ready for marching band.

Don't forget stretches and exercises to combat the inevitable sore muscles from lugging 25 lbs of brass.
