I got this one in my email box yesterday and it sounds interesting. Since nobody has posted it here yet, here goes... Hopefully I'll have my new restored Holton 345 with me, if anybody wants to see it and play it.
Event: Tuba Day 2010
What: Concert
Start Time: Sunday, May 23 at 11:00am
End Time: Sunday, May 23 at 4:00pm
Where: CSULB Music Department
Tuba Day 2010 will be a premier event held in the beautiful music facilities at CSULB. Admission will likely be free. Tuba Day will feature clinics, a mock audition and mass concert. Come meet and hang with tuba luminaries from the LA area (names, clinics, masterclass all to be announced shortly!)
It's a one day event that will bring the Los Angeles tuba - euphonium community together for a great hang and a great opportunity to hear and play with some of the top musicians in the region!
Come play the new Kanstul BBb, EEb and CC tubas, and don't forget your own tuba / euphonium for the mass concert at the end of the day!
There will be a display area. Think of this event as something between "The Boneyard" and ITEC, but it's for the serious tuba - euphonium enthusiast!!

I believe Stan Freese and Justin Jerome will perform. We have a few unusual new instruments to show off in addition to the new Kanstul horns, including: Alexander 163 CC tuba and 151 tenor tuba, Cerveney 753 F tuba and new F cimbasso, and assorted Miraphone and Gronitz tubas.
Best,
Steve Ferguson

Thanks to The Horn Guys for hosting Tuba Day yesterday. We had a light turnout, as it was end of the year for most students, and many of them had recitals or concerts scheduled. Nevertheless, we still had a good turnout of talented players and enthusiasts. We'll post some pictures in a few days when we return from ITEA. Until then, all the best!!
