The Soup FOUND!!!
did anyone happen to see "The Soup" on the E Channel a couple weeks past where they mentioned a handful of major tuba players...I mean, even all the way back to Torch?!

Re: The Soup
Can you get more specific? The Soup website /blog does not show anything like that in the last 3 weeks and the only way to see a full old episode is to buy it on iTunes.

Re: The Soup
yeah, i looked all over the web for ANYthing about it. it was so quick on the show. they mentioned Oystein, Torchinsky, and a few others that i can't remember. it was weird/hilarious. Joel's last line was something like "yeah, we totally had somebody research all those guys."
just wondering if anyone else saw it...

Yippee! Another clip of someone making fun of tuba players. Thanks for the link!
I especially love the way they mutilated Jeff Funderburk's name. Super!

I used to watch an episode of The Soup once in a while. Most of the time they insult unintelligent super-narcissistic reality show "stars" (and not real musicians).

I don't know, I kinda like it....As a journalist I can appreciate the intern who researched tuba players to make that statement make some sense. For example:
That kid is good. He could be the next Oystein Baadsvik (a highly esteemed, innovative soloist)
With more of a Herbie Flowers (jazz/rock oriented) vibe
But if he keeps stealing licks from Jerry Vunderburk (an arbitrary well-respected tuba player)
He'll end up like Abe Torchinsky (deceased)
Bravo, Soup!

That's how Joel McHale pronounced "Jeffrey Funderburk" so, yeah, really.

Meh. More interesting to see that kid try to play along to "Candy Highway", or whatever the hell that was.

Re: The Soup FOUND!!!
Comedy isn't pretty - but I think they were going for tubists with "slightly" unusual names to put a few layers on the bit.
(as someone with a somewhat unusual name, I know how announcers can screw it up easily...)
