Last night, I went to see the Macy's fireworks display in person for the first time (despite living in the NYC area for my entire life). The television broadcast does absolutely no justice to the scope of that display. Wow.

I will be going to the local hardware store to buy a electrical plug for a lamp to replace the one that melted off. This is the extent of my electrical repair work.

UPDATE:

The trombone studio is on the way to Austin for ITA. It feels strange not going with them, but the competitions are using staff accompanists. Good luck to the quartet, Caleb, and Steve in their competitions!

Finally returned home this afternoon for first time since bi-lateral knee surgery on June 25! I am looking forward to trying to sleep in my own bed without being awakened every hour or so by some nurse. Inpatient rehab is grueling, to say the least.

Night time temperatures in the low 40s, today's high barely made it to 70. Beautiful clear, dry weather with occasional scattered showers. Truly delightful. :)

This is a weather update.

My car thermometer read 103 in suburban Marietta a while ago. Yuk! But at least the A/C is still working! It's not even August yet! Supposed to be cooler tomorrow.

' time to cut it up...If you REALLY need it again, you can tell the c.c. company that it was destroyed, and ask for a replacement - but the time and trouble of doing that will strongly discourage you from using it again. :D
Well, I could have (should have) easily paid it off a while ago, I just didn't want to take the hit all at once. Been laid off once in the past 6 months, not trying my luck again. Stupid, I know. :) But all set now!

Getting ready to play in Butte at the National Folk Music Festival this weekend, with the brass band - Alte Kameraden, out of Red Lodge. It looks to be an exciting time. I'm looking forward to it, except for the 325 mile drive to Butte, which I will undertake Saturday morning at 6:30 am.

A size 12 red san juan worm, a size 8 rubber-legged black stonefly, and a size 12 pheasant tail nymph were all successful at provoking strikes in (respecitvely) five 14-16" brown trout, two 16-18" cutbows (rainbow/cutthroat hybrids), and more than eight SNITs (standard nine-inch trout). All fish were landed successfully and released back into the Gallatin River.

I would bet, then, that either your pond is over populated or your prey resources are limited. Likely a combination. Of course, you may be managing the pond for high catch rates. In that case, you seem to be doing a great job.
