Were ALL of the 2165 tubas "handmade by Warren Deck", or ONLY the used ones that are currently for sale at any given time?

This gave me an excellent chuckle I needed this morning.

Assuming you might actually want an answer to this, let's look at the "facts" [as I recall when still in college]. Warren put 2 of his horns up for sale via consignment @ Baltimore Brass in either 2000 or 2001 (I can't remember which year it was). At that time I was studying with Ed Diefes. Ed either went to BB and tried them out or had them shipped to him. Either way, he selected one of those horns to keep and the other remained in Baltimore. Assuming that the horns in Baltimore at that time were actually Warren's (which I believe BB was advertising), there there are 2 "confirmed" Warren-o-phones out in the wild.

When I got my Deck-o-phone last year, I was told part of the pedigree. It previously belonged to Tim Buzzbee and sometime before him it had belonged to Warren. I can "confirm" the Buzzbee claim as the flight case is covered of Iceland airport travel stickers. (At least the case was his) Before Tim, I don't have any confirmation. Could it have been Ed's (I don't believe Ed has a 2165 any longer)? I don't know. Is it the "other" one? I have no idea.

Tim, can you chime in on this one?

Ooooooooooh! I see what you are saying. If you notice in my previous post, I mentioned the horns were previously owned by him, but never made the hand-made claim as you indicated. You're absolutely right. I've heard from those who've known Warren that "he knows enough to be dangerous" about horn mods and repairs. Yes, he's resoldered some sections and stuff like that.

YES! I screwed the two halves together, checked them for fit/alignment/airtightness, and (most importantly of all) PLACED it in a box.

Okay, so what's the price difference between the production-model and handmade-model blokepiece?

Looks good - but in my hands it would probably play 200 cents sharp. Bloke: what would it take to re-work the
bugle and all the valve loops to bring it down in pitch so I could play it in tune?
