I haven’t seen this in wind instruments from Yamaha before, but it has long been known that other low end Yamaha instruments were made in other SE-Asian countries. My Yamaha guitarlele is from Indonesia as far as I remember.

And then the tenor sax displayed in your photo hardly is from Yamaha’s top line:

It's no secret that Yamaha has had factories in China for a long time. I have a tough time understanding why they still charge so darned much for their instruments.

Eastman bought a factory in China where their tubas are built. Their tubas are exact copies of Yamaha tubas 'cause it's the same tooling. It's a small World!
