Roger Bobo, first dreams of light question.

I don't know if this is the right place to post this.. but here it goes.

Does anyone know what technique Roger is using in the track "first dreams of light" on his Man with the golden tuba album?

When I listen to it, it sound almost as if it is a editing trick, with the sound panning really quickly from one side to the other.

Yes, that's indeed what it was. The effects were made using manipulation of the tape and other studio tricks. Brian Eno did this a lot...effectively using the studio as an instrument.
