Should this be played on a bass or contrabass tuba?

Did you know that "All Glory, Laud and Honor" can be sung to the tune of "Gee, Officer Krupke" from West Side Story?

I hear The Marine Hymn, from the Gendarmes' Duet, opera Geneviève de Brabant by Jacques Offenbach.

Actually, the following tunes work just as well:
Amazing Grace
They Call the Wind Mariah
O Susanna
The theme to 'Gilligan's Island'
(And my personnal favorite) Boris the Spider (by The Who)
bardus est ut bardus probo,
Bill Souder

Is this hymn sung better in silver or raw brass?
