Tuba ID (plus bonus cool old picture)

Post by AHynds »

Anyone got a clue on what type of horn this is? This comes from an interesting article about the aerophor, a device intended to extend an orchestral wind musician's air capacity. Here it is.

The player is Hofmusiker (= musician of the court) from Schwerin the then capital of Mecklenburg. Mecklenburg now is part of the German state at the Baltic coast, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Schwerin still is the capital. The area was part of the GDR.

The title of Hofmusiker dates the photo to before the end of WWI.

The tuba is a sample of Cerveny’s de luxe series of instruments where the link to the rotor crank is mounted under the spatula. This series was discontinued in 1930.

The problem with the aerophor is having the hole drilled in your cheek to attach it...
Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?
