Hi,
How much do you think a 3-valve, BBb, Reynolds "Contempora" (it's not a sousaphone)would sell for assuming it plays nicely? (some dings and dents as can be expected from an older horn, as well as slides that are very hard to move, but very good valves) I really know nothing about these horns as far as how much they would sell for so I was wondering a price range (highest and lowest) I could reasonably expect to get.
About how much could you get for a Reynolds Contempora

There's a very broad spread of prices depending on the condition of the finish, dents, case, etc.
Low of $250 for playable but ugly.
High of $950 for near-new with a good case.
Ebay is a good barometer if your looking for a 'quick' sale. One of the large tuba retailers such as Dillons might give you an indication of what you might get if you hold out for a while.

tubatinker, would you consider taking this as part of a trade (plus a considerable amount of cash) for that VMI 101 you have for sale sometime in the near future?

Possibly. The horn you are referring to is a VMI 101 'clone'... probably mid-70's. It's a good copy but not made by VMI/B & S. Please email me privately.doublebuzzing wrote:tubatinker, would you consider taking this as part of a trade (plus a considerable amount of cash) for that VMI 101 you have for sale sometime in the near future?
