I listened to the sound clips and they sounded pretty decent. I have no idea how accurate the recordings are (or if they are enhanced in any way), but the sound seemed clear to me while a bit "dead." I would really like to hear one of these instruments live in comparison to a brass sax and compare resonance.

For a little while, Chuck Dallenbach of the Canadian Brass had a custom Yamaha with a black carbon fiber bell. His artist page at Yamaha.com used to have a picture of it before they updated their site, but alas it is gone now... BUT here is a video of the CB with Chuck playing the fiber bell.
