Graduate School Auditions

Post by TubaStaub »

Hi Tubenet,
I was doing some research for grad schools that I would be interested in attending, but some of the schools don't have specific repertoire for their auditions. In fact, even some of the big name schools just ask for "lyrical" and "technical" solo for their graduate auditions.
So, I was wondering we could just take a quick survey to see what pieces you played for your audition and what school you got accepted to (you don't have to mention the ones you didn't get accepted to :)

Thanks

I played one of the Bach flute partitas and the Mazurka from the Jacob suite for my grad school auditions. You should however realize that I was also more auditioning for a conducting spot in the band program rather than a tuba performance slot. Had to conduct 2 or 3 movements from Suite Francais for that one.
