Has anyone tried...?

Post by Frank Ortega »

Out of curiosity...

Has anyone out there tried to cut an old Reynolds BBb tuba to CC?

There seem to be a number of them available, and all of them have that ridiculously tall, detachable bell.
It seems to me, that if someone were to put a normal, upright bell on one of those, it would already be halfway to CC.

For those of us of a certain age, this is the same tuba seen in the pictures of Harold L. Walters on the backs of Rubank tuba solos like Stupendo!

Thanks,

I've built one that was quite successful. It does take a slightly different approach than I use with the 2341 transformations. I'll see if I have a picture of that horn somewhere to post here.
