Hi Gang,
Way back in 1975 I was looking for a Conn Helleberg; something similar to what Arnold Jacobs was playing at the the time. While at Humboldt University for the summer, a local repairman found an "old one" threw some silver plating on it and sold it to me for $35.00. I've always loved that mouthpiece but over the last 35 years it's picked up a few nicks on the rim and a little pitting in the throat. I decided to send it up to Dan Oberloh to identify just what it was I had and to see if he could "clean it up." Well, it turned out to be a 1930's vintage Conn Helleberg and wow, did he clean it up! Sorry I don't have any "before" pictures, but here are some at the stage just before plating and the final product...

Wow! I have a 1970's gold one that has a lot of wear. I don't use it now; is there a market for these?

Glad you like the mouthpiece Tom.
Actually, it was not the plating that took out the lettering on the mouthpiece but way to much heavy-handed buffing. Not too sure if my sight will allow me to take on many more of those projects. The hand engraving of those small letters can be pretty hard on the eyes and those handy magnifying lenses screw my sight up, blurring my vision after a few hours looking thru them. What to do?
