Re: Czech Eb tuba
Cool horn. But.... beware of pitch problems. The loooooong main tuning slide is too long to be a simple high/low pitch conversion. It might well be an Eb/F conversion.

I'm thinkin' nobody in their right mind would send their hard-earned money to Poland, Rumania, Russia, Italy, or anywhere else outside the US or Canada in hopes of getting a Tuba in return.

Then, again, some people like to buy lottery tickets and gamble in a casino...Walter Webb wrote:I'm thinkin' nobody in their right mind would send their hard-earned money to Poland, Rumania, Russia, Italy, or anywhere else outside the US or Canada in hopes of getting a Tuba in return.

For what it's worth, I have bought a couple helicons from Europe. One of them a Lignatone, an Amati brand or stencil. That one cost me a bundle to ship, too, while the other one was cheap - I guess he basically just took it to the Post Office, and it showed up on my doorstep with yellow German Post Office stickers. I don't think it works that way any more.

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=41233 here is the thread where a person got tuba from Europe just few weeks ago. Does not sound like a big problem to me.

I bought the Harmonia F tuba that has gone through Marty's and Wade's hands on ebay from Germany.
I paid just over $1000 for it.

You guys who sent out for take out from across the sea are braver than I, although my cringing may be unfounded as I got screwed on a something that came from Wisconsin one time, and I bought something from England with no trouble. It really is just a crapshoot, unless the seller has a reputation you can refer to. Ex Eastern Bloc countries seem extra shady to me, but I am, perhaps, a relic of the cold war myself.
