Old Cerveny CC 601's with 18" bell

Post by bisontuba »

Hi-
I bought a while back a 5 valve older Cerveny CC 601 model 'Kaiser'/"Hog"/ 5-6/4 size but with the older style smaller bell-17.75-18"--I just had a lot of work/upgrades done to it, and it is fabulous.
I am just curious how many folks out in TubeNet land have the old version of the CC 601's with the smaller (not 20") bell--and if yours is a 4 or 5 valve horn?
Thanks-
mark

I think Jay Bertolet owned an older one, but I don't recall the bell size on his. He also made a number of improvements, which I recall were inspired in part by suggestions from Don Harry. At that time, there was no fifth-valve option, and he had one installed with some difficulty. You might search around in the archives of the old Tubenet for Jay's posts--most of his descriptions were related to when he was selling the instrument. He replaced it wth a Nirschl.

Hi-
I heard that Lee Stofer was working on a big old Cerveny--not sure if BBb or CC--you might want to check with him. Good luck.

Correct... it's an older model CC. Give him a call, sounds like it's starting (and will end!) as a great instrument!
