Re: How many at YOUR TubaChristmas?
We had 26 at our TubaChristmas in Little Rock, Arkansas. We performed in McCain Mall, which is one of the main attractions within the city. It was packed to the brim so a lot of people got to hear us honking away. It was a lot of fun. This is my 4th year getting to play. Definitely going back for more!

This year's TubaChristmas, held today at 12 noon at the Arneston Theater (Riverwalk), San Antonio, Texas, had 159 players-give or take a few, I forgot the exact number. Hats off to the TubaMeisters for putting on a great event topped off with some gorgeous December weather!

Re: How many at YOUR TubaChristmas?
Not too many at the Utica/New Hartford TubaChristmas, but it was an enthusiastic group. I met a nice lady who was playing a York Eb tuba in remarkable shape. Extremely resonant, no patches, very very few extremely small dings or any obvious work and feather-light, smooth valves. She said she picked it up at an estate auction for $100 a few years ago and learned how to play the tuba specifically so she could play for TubaChristmas each year. That was really cool.

Re: How many at YOUR TubaChristmas?
I finally convinced mom to play for TubaChristmas instead of listening from the audience. I taught her to play my little rotary oval baritone in around 24hrs before the gig, while on the road to Minnesota to pick up my newest addition a 1964 Holton 345BBb in Satin Silver
. She did alright and mostly sat and listened to some of the more eight note heavy pieces. We went to Chicago and played with 366 tubas and euphs, including about a dozen Sousas, an Olpheceide, and Gene Pokorny. We had a lot of fun!

480 in Akron for two shows.
In excess of 5600 (combined) in the audience. Always a great time.

We had 110 players in attendance at Riverside, California tonight, including 2 serpent horns. The youngest player was only 3 and the oldest was 83 years old. And a really nice sized crowd came to listen, despite the rain all day. Really nice event!

We had around 165 at the Houston Tuba Christmas. The youngest was 11; the oldest was 82. We had pristine weather: 55, clear blue skies, no wind and a large crowd.
The Kemah Tuba Christmas(which is in the Houston area near NASA) had 103 the weekend before the Houston TC.

Re: How many at YOUR TubaChristmas?
Vancouver, BC, Canada TubaChristmas on Saturday December 18th had 42 participants. We played in an authentic (I think) german-style christmas market in a gazebo. We were conducted by Jim Littleford. Mostly Bb and C tubas, a couple of Eb tubas, 1 F tuba, 2 helicons (1 Eb, 1 Bb), 1 sousaphone, and a myriad of different euphoniums. Looking forward to doing it again next year!

I haven't been to an Akron TubaChristmas in years. It's just too big. How is it now that it's at E.J. Thomas?jacojdm wrote:480 in Akron for two shows.

We had 35-38 (they weren't sure exactly) playing at last night's TC in Kalamazoo. Large audience, too, for a rainy (but warm -- low 50s) evening ... lots of umbrellas out there (we were under the bandshell roof, but spray was swirling in from the sides). The alphorns were back this year, too -- always fun to have them with us. We gave the old year a good send-off!
