Does replating a mouthpiece silver knock out the nicks in the rim that have come about in various ways?

No. The plating is only a very thin coating. If the mouthpiece is modern and still in production, you might get a new one. If it is a historic piece, there are very talented people who can restore them for you.

I only had one MP replated a while ago and I can tell you that yes, some of the nicks were not visible anymore. I guess it depends on how deep they are. There are still some nicks, but less than before I had it replated.j1007hc wrote:Just a question related to this post:

I just took mine to the local music store. They sent it out somewhere but it was much more convenient for me.
