RIP Maurice Murphy

Post by dvtuba »

Just in case you hadn't heard. I know he's not a tuba player, but hat's off to a legend and a cousin in our brass family.

What a shame. I heard Mr. Murphy with the Brass Band of Battle Creek and even though he must have been 72 years old, it was wonderful, effortless playing. Rarely do you hear someone who transcends their instrument as he did.

The only thing you can about it say is that it's too bad his family will probably have no recourse to the nationalized health system of the UK.

That's a very sad story. So sorry to read that.

According to the link shared above...

"The junior doctor involved is receiving further training, mentoring and counseling through his specialist training programme which includes tools to assist with reflective practice."

Sheesh! In this country he would have lost his license to practice medicine and the hospital would have been sued... and paid damages I'm sure.

This is truly tragic, however in the U.K. doctors are gods and nurses have to be subservient.

I am sorry to say this but I grew up proud to be British, with the bravery and dedication my parents and grandparents showed in times of hardship and war. Now I am ashamed. I am British and I have to say if it is British, it is probably substandard and incompetent.
This is not written in anger, but in despair.

I am fortunate to have a great job that feeds my family well, but music feeds my soul.

The doctor/god syndrome is alive an well in the US. Not as bad as it used to be but when push comes to shove it is.

If the nurse pointed out the error and the doctor ignored, then it sounds more like criminal negligence. Surprised he was not charged.

For such a great musician to died is sad, but to die in such circumstances is really tragic!
