Tchaik 4

Post by jeopardymaster »

I this day of Finale and laser printers, I'm a bit surprised, and certainly p*ssed off. I just performed Tchaik 4 with a local orchestra, and Bar 179 of Movement 1 is STILL MISSING from the part Luck's sent us. Right in the middle of that famous monster lick right after a bunch of off-the-beat whacks. It's the last place a tuba player needs to have to deal with something like that. And it's marked 'FFF' to boot.

Bastards. My printer is down, so I hand-wrote the line and taped it into the part. And I hope it's there for the next guy.

When I played it several years ago with the Memphis Civic Orchestra, I'd have been delighted to have some of those measures missing from my 1st oboe part!!! That piece is a bear for the woodwinds - at least the higher ones! Don't think I've ever played the tuba part on it. Would like to someday.
