Article about Schuller's new tuba concerto

Here's an article about Gunther Schuller's great "Tuba Concerto No. 2", which was just given its premiere by Mike Roylance and the Boston University Symphony Orchestra. There's some great stuff in here, and here's an especially glowing description of the ability of the tuba in general:

...[Schuller] employs the full panoply of possibilities to highlight all the virtues of the tuba as a solo instrument, demonstrating its enormous range and its agility and flexibility in every register, as well as its ability as a lyric, expressive instrument, capable of long singing phrases."

Good stuff, and it's great to see a new concerto from such a recognized figure in American music.

have you heard of any recordings?

There's no recording that I know of, but it was premiered on a live webcast a few weeks ago. Great stuff, and Roylance played extremely well.
