Re: Screaming deal on ebay
It's a good buy and I seriously considered buying this horn just to resell. However... I figured the 'buy it now' would be 'snatched up' before I had a chance to contact the seller. I see that the seller requires immediate payment yet has had no feedback since August of 2010 even though they have several things currently for sale.
I'll let someone else have it. Just call them or email before plunking down $945.

Mark,
When it arrives and before I start sanding off the lacquer, I will glowingly describe or send a picture of this tuba treasure.
I would not have found the tuba were it not for your "head-up" which I found after I had seached for Ebay tuba listings at 4 in the morning and found no mention of the Cerveny. Then I went to the Tubenet ahd there it was...thanks to you. I am grateful.

That's a fun horn. I was almost tempted to keep it here a while back!hibiscus80 wrote:Mark,

WOW! You guys know the Eskimo. He mostly deals in saxes, but hey, if bass trumpet or tuba can move, well the more the merrier. He doth come across a lot of cool stuff, tho. Seems like he broadcasts far and wide with language to bring in the collectors from Asia and Europe, with words like, "King Silversonic tenor, Anniversary model with solid silver bell and neck, full pearl keytouches, so rare that your grandmother might have seen it." Aint Snarkiness the last resort of the small timers? That would be me.

I bought this tuba for my own use...I'm not really the Eskimo.
The horn arrived about 4 inches shorter than it was capable of becoming. The 19" bell was totaly crushed with several holes and lots more that had been repaired with patches. The bottom bell and guard plate were completely crushed. The eBay dscription did say it had cosmetic issues. It looked like something your worst junior high student might have thrown in front of an old spike-wheeled tractor.
The good part: it sounds great and plays very nicely. When my technitian got through with it it was 43" tall.
