621 - baby bear
2341 - momma bear
36J - poppa bear

all in BBb.

For a routine gig, one is too small, one is too big, and one is *just right*.

Wouldn't it ever be nice to have something other than a huge tuba? I like small horns generally, but I do like at least some big tubas.

All CC with 5 valves right hand and a flat whole step fifth valve. Main tuning slide kickers for left hand on the rotary horns.

I have mine already. The only horn out there that might cause me to swap from what is in my sig is a bruckner for my 5/4 163. But I would have to think long and hard about it. I like what I have. I have found each horn to have optimal utility for concerts I have played this year. I have used each in both large and small ensemble performances to great effect.

You bet! I'd also consider the Yamaha 621 and the Conn 2J and 3J excellent 3/4 CCs. Rudy Meinl's 3/4 is a bit on the large side, but it is beyond exceptional!!

I have no problem with the Piggy, not at all -- just seems like a bigger horn/sound than something like a 184 or 185. The 2J, 3J, and 621 are all cool too, but I was specifically asking about rotary horns.

I was just thinking though... it seems like for a lot of people, their 3/4 rotary CC tuba is actually an F tuba!

I've got mine but it's taken awhile to get them.King Monster Rotary, King 2341. and a Conn 5J. All Bb of course.I also have a Martin Mammoth and an old style detachable King with the 19 and 22 in. raincatchers and the bell front. Ed

I was just thinking though... it seems like for a lot of people, their 3/4 rotary CC tuba is actually an F tuba!

For me, my PT-15 F now substitutes for a 4/4 CC - with its large bell throat no problem with breath of low register. From my play testing, a Norwegian Star Eb could also well substitute and of course in Britain 3+1 Eb like the Besson 981 usually fulfil the role of both F and smaller CC

The more I think of it, the piggy is probably better classified as a professional 4/4. But it's an inexact science.
