Michael Grose recording of Barnes 2nd movement question

Post by NDSPTuba »

Edit:. I've been corrected it is Michael Grose and not Chris Olka, so much for what I think I know . It is with Orchestra and it sounds great. The thing I love about it, is he is most definitely playing a Contra Bass and the sound is wonderful. My question is what tuba is he playing? Anybody know?

I can't count the number of times I've listened to this and wish I could get the whole concerto. I've also lost the original mp3 that was on my computer and it only exists on my ipod. I'd love to be able to have it on my computer again. If anyone could point me in the right direction I'd be grateful.

Thanks,

James

Oh, well so much for me being sure about it being Chris Olka. The first link is the recording I'm referring too. Thanks for the link. Do you know what tuba he is playing?

Thanks

I'm going to assume, though dangerous that may be, that he is playing the instrument that is in this pic. Is that a G50? Image

Mike Grose is the MAN. What a beautiful sound and gracious man. While I'm at it, Scott Watson is really cool too.

Yep it's Mr. Grose. The horn in the photo is his York 6/4 CC but he recorded it with a G-50.
