Post by TWScott283 »

Bari-T's with Dr. Brian Bowman

Presented by the Lone Star Wind Orchestra, euphonium soloist Dr. Brian Bowman provides a brass master class focusing on the bari-t's: technique, tone and tongue. This LSWO educational outreach master class is for all ages and the fundamentals highlighted here assists in better brass playing.

The master class will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2011 from 1-2 pm in the band hall at Berkner High School (1600 E. Spring Valley Road, Richardson, TX).

This master class is a precursor to Dr. Brian Bowman's featured performance with the Lone Star Wind Orchestra on Sunday, April 17, 2:30 pm, at the Eisemann Center in Richardson. Dr. Bowman will perform three works with the LSWO - Herbert L. Clarke's famed Carnival of Venice, Jan Krzywicki's Pastorale and Edoardo Boccalari's Sounds from the Riviera. The concert titled "Passions: Icons of an Era" features wind band masterpieces like Gustav Holst's Second Suite in F, David Maslanka's Traveler and Alfred Reed's Armenian Dances, Part One."

The master class is open to anyone interested in attending and learning more about musicianship from a world-renowned soloist and teacher. Brass musicians are encouraged to bring their instruments. The charge is $10. The $10 charge includes admission to the master class, access to the closed dress rehearsal right after the master class from 2:30-3:30 pm and one concert ticket to the concert the next day.

To register, visit the LSWO Wind Band Store. After you register, be sure to print out your receipt as your receipt will be your proof of admission to the master class. Your concert ticket will be available at the LSWO booth in the Eisemann lobby an hour before the performance on Sunday.

For parents of student musicians, master class participants will sit in a special section on the orchestra floor for Sunday's concert at the Eisemann Center. These tickets are only available from the LSWO Wind Band Store through Friday, April 15 and in person before the master class at Berkner High School. If you would like to sit by your son or daughter, be sure to purchase additional master class tickets for you. If not, you can purchase tickets by clicking here.
