What's It's Name?

Post by DevilDog-2013 »

Hello TubeNet  I hope all is well.

What is (are) the name(s) of your tuba(s)? Yep, you heard me correctly. And what's the story behind it?

I named the first tuba I played, "Blunderbuss". I stole the name from my sister. She was going to name her rifle (she's in the MC) that, but she didn't so I stole the name x]

And I named the school's Miraphone "Willis". I don't really know why but it works. x]

Your turn!

Thanks,
Erica
I don't play the tuba.
I am a tuba player.

Image,

you think you are the King of the Weston?

York Dynasty rather is that of a Connman.

I’m Boosey and a thread like this just Hawkes my time.

Show some Courtoisy and Bessoff. Shouldn’t you play the Alexanderia Quartet in St. Petersburg?

But of Cousnon, you won’t hang up that Miraphone. Not your Distiny. You hardly will Getzen it.

Paxman!

This is La'Keysha. I really don't have any reason other than I'm from the ghetto and wanted a ghetto name for my horn (preferably feminine).

I call the 983 Topper. It came with only an Alteri gigbag when I purchased it. As I pulled it out of the bag that night my ex-wife saw the top cap on the bell and called it Topper so I just went with it. The 28K is called LuLu. I have no idea why but why not

Lets see...
Conn 19 I is "Connie" (not so imaginative)
York Master is "Toby" (ditto)
VMI is "Heidi" (her previous owner had named her that since she was German, and it stuck; she sings in the high register)

Motorcycle is Altioth (the V Star; Alioth is one of the stars in Ursa Minor)
Other motorycycle is Comet (FZ1, silver, and streaks on the roadway)
Green 4x4 truck is Hulk.
Patrol jeep is "Huntin' Cat"

Yes, I anthropomorphize most of the inanimate objects that I spend time with.

Same for me. The name for my Holton 345 is "the Holton". Other names: The York Master, the Miraphone, the B&S, the Yamaha.

Occasionally, I have other names for them. But mostly those are names for me when I'm playing them. They are not repeatable here.

I'm confused, but, goodgigs, was that an American Dad reference?

Thanks for all the replies, this is rather entertaining.

Tubas don't like it when you anthropomorphize them.

Named mine only when valve linkage broke during performance. TN rules doesn't allow me to repeat those names publically.Gave it several names at the time. It was a 4th valve though and I could keep on going on. :tuba: :tuba:

My wife calls mine 'father' (Neptune), 'mother' (PT-15) and 'baby' (MW14) tuba respectively

You know how women like families! :P

What I call them depends on to who I am speaking
