Hey jazz-o-philes,
I'm planning an entry into the ITEC jazz competition and am pretty unfamiliar with one of the required tunes: Have You Met Miss Jones?
Does anyone have any favorite recordings of this to recommend? I'm seeking, preferably, a horn player with an uptempo interpretation - I'm aware of the Sinatra ballads on YouTube. They're great, but not what I'm looking for. Much obliged for any submissions.

British euphoniumist Glyn Williams recorded it with Fodens Richardson Band on his solo CD Virtuoso.

Sufficiently uptempo for you?

I don't think this song has been done much very up tempo, but Doc Cheatham did a moderate tempo version on his last recording "The 87 Years of Doc Cheatham" (Nicholas Payton on the trumpet solo, I think) but you might try looking for the Art Tatum version. Neal Jones did the version that was in "Bridget Jones Diary" as I recall.

On the right side, there's a "Listen and Compare" box, hit play and you'll find samples from 12 different recordings (any of which you can purchase as an MP3 for 99 cents)

Re: Have You Met Miss Jones?
It's a pretty common jazz combo "Real Book" tune. Is there a local jazz combo that could play it for you or even let you "sit in" to work out the changes?
BTW, good luck with that bridge...it's a mother.
