RVW Concerto Band Arrangement?

Post by AHynds »

Hello, everyone!

Does anyone know just how difficult the RVW band arrangement from Denis Wick is? I am interested in using it to play with the Decatur, IL Municipal Band in late July, and I want to make sure it is playable. It says that it is grade 5, and this band can usually pull of grade 5 pieces if need be.

Thanks, and any input is welcome!

Aaron H.

P.S., here's the arrangement I'm talking about.

I played it a few weeks ago. The ensemble tuba part is OK. I didn't look at the score but I didn't didn't hear anything too impossible from where I was sitting.

I played this arrangement a few years ago, it's a good one. I would say it's difficult for the band, especially the 3rd movement.

There were a few misprints in the band parts.
