Fair price for a King 1241 tuba
I'm considering posting a King 1241 4 piston valve tuba but honestly don't know what a fair price would be. It's in good shape, no major dents and about 95% lacquer. So...what would a fair price be?

Condition is everything. But.... to give you a range (with respect to condition):
With a recording bell only - $800 - 1,400.
With an upright bell only - $1,000 - 1,600.
With both bells - $1,600 - 2,600 (add $200 if it's a 19" bell instead of a 22" bell).
Add $75 - 100 for each case.
Just a wild guess based on what I might list it for.

Re: Fair price for a King 1241 tuba
Thanks for the thoughtful replies. I have two bells, both 21 1/2 inches which I assume is the same as the 22 inch mentioned. I guess it's all in how you measure it. I have a case for the body of the tuba and for the upright bell, but not the recording bell. The recording bell is also a little darker lacquer than the tuba and upright bell. I'm a newbie so I don't have a hang on posting the pics yet. Hopefully I'll figure it out soon.

Re: Fair price for a King 1241 tuba
I've recently bought two King 1241 tubas.
Silver plated, good condition, both 22" bells, cases for everything, required repairs: $1500 + $300 in repairs = $1800
Laquer, fair condition, 22" upright bell, no cases, playable as-is: $1150
Several recording bell Kings have been passed by on ebay for ~$1000 recently.
