How difficult would it be to make a travel/practice tuba in F from french horn and baritone parts? The horn is already in F and getting the baritone to F would require about 3 feet of tubing (or there abouts). There are quite a few junker horns and baritones on the bay.

A contratrumpet is a better idea; more compact, higher chance of success, and much cooler.

Definitely cooler and more compact, but to get anything similar to Bobo's would require some custom fabrication. The other contra you had was cool but I think it was closer to a baritone than a trumpet. Still, it's hard to beat a contra trumpet in the wow factorBob Kolada wrote:A contratrumpet is a better idea; more compact, higher chance of success, and much cooler.
