What model is it? Conn Eb Tuba

Post by dantetuba »

Hello everyone,

I found this Tuba in "Craigslist" site, the only thing I know is that
this is a Eb Tuba, its serial number is: 699XXX. The photos were
taken by a web cam and are mirrored.
What model is it?
Thanks

Looks like one of the 1950s-1960s models. I've not played one.

Yup. Only made from 1955 to 1964. It's one of the shortest-lived production runs of the Conn tuba models. Prior to that period, the bell diameter seems to be the most reliable method to determine model numbers. Here's what the 1934 Conn General Catalog 'C' said:

Probably more information that anyone really wanted to have but here it is, anyway:

Top-action Eb tubas:

16" bell low pitch - 2J
16" bell high pitch - 3J

18" bell low pitch - 10J
18" bell high pitch - 11J

20" bell low pitch - 18J
20" bell high pitch - 19J

22" bell low pitch - 26J
22" bell high pitch -27J
