Have just spotted your post! Yes, I tried the JBBB-520 while in China and it is a nice small BBb with no obvious intonation problems and quite good tone, although I personally preferred the same size rotary JBBB-500 playing them back to back as that seemed to have a fuller low register.
Jon, Just let me know if you want me to order either the 500, or 520 for you? They are not models I am as yet stocking, but may well do in the future.

Jonathan, did you try either of the Yamaha 6XX inspired Tubas? The 855 is the rotary version...

I do not remember an 855. In fact it is not in my catalogue - what does it look like?

Jonathan, it's in the JinBao catalog, and on my site. Looks like a Yamaha 6XX...

No, I have not seen that anywhere - not at Frankfurt, Beijing, or the factory
FWIW I much prefer the JBBB-500 design - surely water will collect in the slides with the 355 removing one of the advantages of rotary valves
