What to do with a York tenor bone?

Post by TheHatTuba »

I have an old (1930's) York tenor bone that is just lying in a corner. The slide is pretty much raw brass (maybe 5% of the plating left) and it does NOT play well in its present condition. Turning it into a bass trumpet sounds cool http://www.wcwband.co.uk/basstrumpet.htm" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank but what other projects can you think of? It has a nice gold highlight engraving (which is the only reason i bought it in the first place).

Do you not want to replate the slide?

What are the bores of valve block and the bell section gooseneck? Will there be a retrograde step-bore?

Finding a King 0.484" bore body for a valve trombone may lead to a useable instrument.

If you scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page, you will notice that Doug Yeo has a lamp made from a trombone.

FWIW, I made a lamp out of an old Boosey Euph. If fixing it is not an option then why not just use it as a decoration
