There is a front piston F (not a clone!) under development in China.

I do not know when it will be out, or if will be in your price range.

I understand that the W. Nirschl tubas will no longer be produced. What a shame.

Bummer. But honestly, were they ever *really* produced?

You're right. They were produced but not in the numbers Miraphone, Conn and Yamaha produced their most popular tubas.

There are an abundance of affordable front-piston bass tubas out there. All you have to do is put yourself in a position to afford them.

"Affordable" was nicely euphemistic for "Jin Bao/...". I could actually buy a new Miraphone 1281 but after years of not having any money I'd like to hold on to what I do have. I also don't really play that much. A new 1281 would be a worse financial idea than that $5000 Kanstul contrabone that left the house 3 times in one year (to be fair, when I bought I had a lot of opportunities to play it).

So did you get the answer you were looking for? Why not go to the "Sponsors" who ship them in, mark them up, and then send most of your money back to Gin Bow and ask them directly, after all, you have to know who they are by now they're all over this forum...

I dont understand why people feel the need to comment in such negative ways.
When the thread was first posted I assumed it was a fishing expedition for a style of tuba that does not interest me from a source that I have bought from in the recent past.
I was able to decipher what I felt was the premise behind the thread and while I do not like what I percieved to be stealth marketing I did not feel the need to comment as there were no inaccuracies in the question and some of the answers were interesting when filtered through.

Note to OP the above comments are my opinion and perception and they could be wrong I dont know, if I am wrong then I apologise.
Cant carry a tune but I can carry a tuba.

Where did "piston F tuba" rank on Neptune's "what should be next" opinion poll a few months ago?
