Bloke,

Thanks for this! I enjoyed every note of the Mendelssohn. And what a delight to hear Diane Bish once again at the console of a really fine organ.

Thanks for posting, Joe. I have seen this woman perform several times on the Diane Bish organ programs telecast everyday here in the Bay area, but I knew little about her background. She is a fine musician, and the article reveals her to be a very nice person.

That organ at Coral Ridge Pres., is a true powerhouse! I have had the privilege and pleasure to hear Bish's Easter Passion, which I think was written by her for that specific instrument. The trumpets en chamade (there are 5 sets of them) are almost overwhelming! The organ is a blend of electronic (Rodgers) and true pipe (originally, Ruffatti Freres) organ. My experience with it was as a stop puller. A friend gave a recital on it, but the card reader for electronic stop pulling was burnt out. I have played a little on it, just to marvel at the krumhorn and the zimbelstern. The first was mesmerizing and the latter, a fun, ethereal effect.

I believe Miss Bish left Coral Ridge several years ago. She switched allegiance to Allen Organs and is their touring artist. Her predecessor in that capacity was Virgil Fox.

Enough trivia for the evening.

Bloke,

That is a beautiful instrument. I wonder what happened to the 5 manual organ?
