Dave Kirk at the Eastman School - **TONIGHT**

Dave Kirk, principal tubist of the Houston Symphony and Associate Professor of Tuba at the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University since 1982, will be giving a master class and recital at the Eastman School of Music on Wednesday, September 28th. He also serves on the faculty of the Texas Music Festival. He has appeared as a guest performer with the Chicago, Boston, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati Symphonies, and the Philadelphia Orchestra. Mr. Kirk studied at the Juilliard School with Don Harry. His other significant influences include David Waters, Chester Schmitz, and Neal Tidwell. His recital will include works by J.S. Bach, Beethoven, Robert Denham, and Jiro Censhu.

The class will begin at 6pm in room 404 on the 4th floor of the main building. Take the elevators up to the 4th floor, turn right off the elevator, right down first hallway, and 404 will be straight ahead at the end of the hall. Mr. Kirk gave a class at Eastman back in 2005 or 2006 that I was around for, and if you live nearby or will be in the area, it would definitely be well worth your while to come and hear him play and what he has to say.
