I want to place them (measure bars) where I want whithout having to think what time signature it is, because thats the point! Not having a time signature is different from hiding a time signature.

I think this is a problem with most score editors. And I think this has to do with MIDI legacy... I dont know...
Lilypond might be a good alternative in that regard. However, there is not a user friendly interface as there is in finale or sibelius.

I went to that link of Lylipond. I was impressed with the examples.

Some of those must be very difficult to do. But with Finale they would be very difficult to do also.

I use finale. I am very quick with it - quicker than most folks. My scores look professional and for what I write (as a composing/editing professional) it fills all my needs. Finale doesn't inhibit me at all.

I took the time needed to use it and it works well. It's tedious (I know) to set the parameters but once you have done so, you can export parts instantly and everything looks great. The sounds are also excellent.

Do I need to upgrade to 2012? Nope. Not until they do something worth upgrading for.

Would Sibelius work better? I don't know. Maybe. Do I need to switch? Not at all.

I downloaded the demo a while ago, but apparently it didn't make much of an impression, because I can't recall much about it, either good or bad, so I guess that means I haven't the foggiest NOTION. :tuba:
