Best Rotor oil
so i have noticed on here that everyone wonders about valve oil, but what do you all think about what the best oil for rotors is?

Re: Best Rotor oil
For a while, I used fishing reel oil (stop laughing!) on my rotor bearings because the needle applicator worked so well. Do you techs have any thoughts on that?
Now that I'm down to one rotor, I just splash valve oil around the bearing and hope for the best.

I buy bottles from Allied that resemble this one:http://www.ebay.com/itm/Precision-Oiler ... 2310fe7e12Alex C wrote:For a while, I used fishing reel oil (stop laughing!) on my rotor bearings because the needle applicator worked so well. Do you techs have any thoughts on that?

This way... I can make up my own 'witches brew' of motor oil and lamp oil to get the viscosity I want for different things. As Bloke mentioned... straight 30 weight works well for rotor bearings. However.... a little dab 'l do 'ya. I don't want that heavy oil inside the rotor housing to gum up the rotor.
When the motor oil finally migrates into the rotor... a 'flush' down the leadpipe with plain old lamp oil will wash the heavy stuff out of the rotor housing.

Re: Best Rotor oil
As the proud owner of a new 4 valve, one rotor, tuba, would someone advise
me as to the method and how often to maintain the rotor? My past experience
with valves (pistons), has always been good, and easy to keep up. With the
rotor being sealed, what needs to be done to maintain it ? Advice appreciated.
