I would like to name this rule of measure the "kardashian".
ie. a Conn 46K sousaphone bell measures "1 kardashian".
I think at first some people might adopt your unit of measure but eventually, in approximately 72 days, they'll move on to another unit....

Re: tuba bell measurement gauge
Why diameter, why not volume?
I know that breast implants are measured in mL, they tend to be about 200 mL. BTW, the reason I know this is not very sexy: I had a very serious finger injury (nearly lost my right index finger, quite bad for a piano player like me), and my reconstructive surgeon also does cosmetic surgery, and one of his treatment rooms has a poster showing the various implants and their sizes (just the implants, not the place they get implanted).
So let's see. If I remember right, a full-size tuba has a volume of about 8 liters. That's about 32 implants. Even at a Kardashian size, and accounting for implants being used in pairs, that's a heck of a lot of Kardashians.
